Neutral safety switch actuator (1977 F150)
Hi,
Today, I was messing with the column on my truck. Afterwords it wouldn't start.
I realized the actuator for the neutral safety switch broke off and fell into the column.
I don't even know what this piece looks like. Does anyone know where I can buy one and how hard is it to install?
Please tell me the column doesn't have to come out. Can I just clip it in the hole that I see in the shaft?
Thanks for your help!

I had a similar problem a couple of days ago. You can install and remove the clip without shaft removal. It is a pain in the butt but is easier if you drop the steering column to give yourself some more room.
You'll need a flat blade screwdriver to remove the rest of the clip (the part you heard is the tine that engages the switch). This requires patience. Then you can install the new clip. This also requires patience. It took me an hour plus to get it done - only because I had done it before and knew my way around. Get the part you need first and the job may make more sense. One of our fellow members helped me out with the part info for the Ford dealer -
Part name: Lever Trans CT
Part #: DOTZ-7B097-B
Price: $15.85
Another member said he found it easier online.
In the meantime you can always tape the switch in position until you can get it all together. Good luck.
