It's a great engine and can easily be upgraded if you want more power. What are you planning to do with your truck?

2 things: First, what do you have on there right now in terms of a carb. Second, what is your budget for this? We could throw all kinds of goodies out there for you but if it's out of your price range it's kind of pointless.

In my opinion, get headers before you get anything else. The stock manifolds are the single most restrictive portion of these engines. You can plan on a set of headers eating up most, if not all of that $300 but it'll be worth it. I wouldn't spend money on an intake unless you plan on getting a new cam and all that good stuff too. You won't see much if any difference between a new aluminum intake and the stocker you have on there now. Maybe someone else can chime in here about the carb since I have no experience with the Motorcraft carbs but I do know there's a fair number of guys using them who have made minor modifications to their engines and they're doing fine. If you choose to replace it I'd look at a 670cfm carb, plenty of volume and will still help keep a little bit of fuel efficiency. I'm currently using a Holley and really like it. I've never had good luck with Edelbrock carbs but there's as many opinions on that as there are people on this forum. But like I said, start with headers. You can pick up an easy 30 horse right there.

Maybee get a 1970 timing set. To meet emissions standards ford retarded the cam. By getting the earlier timing set you should get some more power and better milage

i planning on put a low to midrange cam in my 460, intake, and cobra jet heads.

so far i just have hedman headers, moroso deep sump oil pan, edelbrock 600 carb with a carb spacer(mostly because when i put the carb on nothing was open and that was the only way i could get the carb to bolt up)

if its a stock 2150 2v, depending on the venturi size, it has plenty of carb if its stock, if you upgrade just dont run an edelbrock, they are a pain to tune, and wont run at angles for crap....all the offroad needle and seats do is keep the needle from opening and closing in bumpy terrain. holley will run at half decent angles, the motorcraft carbs and simple, cheap and will run at crazy angles....some thing with q-jets
