Hey my buddy whats to buy my 9 inch rear off my 72 f-100. I was wondering what gears does it have in it and how much is it worth. Its off 72 f100 4 speed manual 4x4.
It should have a tag on one of the bolts in the centre of the rear end giving the ratio. As to what it is worth that depends on how good a buddy. Any where from $200 up depending on the ratio and condition.
There is a tag on one of the bolts holding the center section in that has a bunch of numbers on it. In the lower row, the first three numbers are the gear ratio. It'll be something like 3 50, or 3L50 if it has a limited slip.
Fomoko1, Down here in the south there is a train load of em for $200.00 and less. You probably couldn't get $20.00 for a 3.00 open, and not much more for a 3.25 open, and you don't have to ask how I know. That doesn't mean you can't find someone ask that for one, though.

Wow, you have it good. Here they are not that scarce but still bring afew bucks if you need one in a hurry. And one with disc brakes is very hard to find here as there were never that many around.
You can buy any of the high ratio 9 inchers and Dana 60s all day long here www.pullapart.com. Tough finding a 4.10 though (9 inch) and impossible to find any 4x4 front end being in GA unless you get a Chevy.
