Hello,
I am a new 88 B2 owner, 2.9L with auto. doing some work on it right now. It has been chopped, and converted into a small Broncanger pick up.lol
Have these always been under powered, or is it just because it is hooked to an automatic trans. I would like to get more power out of it. The trans has been rebuilt, about 15000 miles ago, and the heads have been worked on. Should I look for ways to increase power or plan on possibly swapping a 4.0L with a 5 Speed in it. Also can you tell by the vin # what the axle gears are?
Thanks,
Shiny
Start by doing all the routine/simple stuff. Pull trouble codes, check fuel pressure, put a vacuum gauge on it, swap plugs, wires cap & rotor change filters. Then see where you're at.
Yep, Autozone can pull codes for you, but if anything shows up, DON'T trust their judgement. Bring the codes back here in the order in which they appearead so everyone can "decode" them and tell you what if anything is up.
Just don't let them talk you into anything.
Okay I tried pulling the codes, did it a few times with KOER to make sure and I come up with a code 22 MAP sensor, I didn't have a timing light to check for the others will try tomorrow.
What kind of problems would a bad MAP sensor cause, if that is the problem?
Thanks,
Shiny
