Can anyone tell me what path the up/down wires for the tailgate window take between the dash switch and the window motor on a 1996 Bronco? Any great resources for this, and similar questions, out there? Thanks in advance.
Here's another one, too. Where does the transmission Park/Neutral safety switch wire run - it's white/pnk (or red/ltblue) according to the wiring diagram I have.
If you mean exactly where through the truck they run, the tailgate wiring drops down from the firewall connector and runs along the driver's side frame rail to the back of the truck then up through the driver's side rear quarter behind the taillight assembly. The harness for the MLPS (Manual Lever Position Sensor) should come down from the engine bay as well.
Tried looking in those areas, but still can't locate either wire.
Is there an online source that tells exactly where wires run and what color they are? I had an old MG Midget Service Manual that told the exact route every wire took. Where would I find that info for my Bronco?
Anyone know what the route for the automatic transmission park/neutral safety switche is? Are the colors (white/pnk or red/lt blue) on the diagrams I found incorrect? Does it come through the firewall on the drivers side? If so, what color is the wire at that point? I hate to chop open a wire and find out it's not the right one. (There are too many black/blue wires for too many purposes running all over my Bronco!)
What are the colors of the wires for the rear window up/down control? I saw one wire that could be the up wire that was pink with a green stripe, but don't know what wire is the down one, which is the one I really need.
I don't know if this helps but I took some photos of the wiring harness neutral safety switch connector under the drivers side, of my 1987 bronco and posted them on my photos here. I did this because someone else with a 1987 had the same problem I did at the same time and I was hopeful that I could aid with pictures. Check them out. On my 87 the neutral safe switch is located on the side of the transmission (DS = Drivers side) There was a connector / wiring harness attached to the frame which ran to the shift lever on the transmission, the connector located there allowed for easy trouble shooting with a test light in my situation. Maybe this will help ya.
One wire in the harness comes from the ignition switch. The other wire is the very wire in color etc that runs to the starter solonoid switch. This wire is the one that plugs onto the solonoid switch. From the location under the truck as in pictures. the harness runs up under the master and up along side the ignition module. along DS fender. Around behind radiator to PS connecting with the starter solonoid. THe wire color if I remember right is red with a purple stripe. PS = passenger side . DS =Drivers side.
What I had in the photos is the very wire which runs to the neutral safe switch. Go and look at your solonoid switch grab the wire that plugs into it and look at the color. Ya might have to go back into the wiring harness a little to get a better look at the color of the wire, that will be the same color as whats in the harness under the DS. I used a test light and unplugged the connector and found where I was getting power out from the switch but not getting to the ( connector / wire ) which runs to the solonoid. and I jumped it.
