Collector car insurance
I saw my classic car where they talked about collector car insurance and just went to the web site.
http://www.americancollectorsins.com
Using the online quote, they came up with the price of $200/year for < 2500 miles and valued at 10K. and an option for up to 5000 miles per year.
I was just wondering if anyone has ever done this type of insurance. I understand that they have an 'agreed value' of the truck and that's what you get if it's totaled. The difference is that most ins policies would give us about $500 for a 30 year old truck, reguardless of ACTUAL value or replacement cost.
Anyone have any insight here?

I am partners on a 66 Mustang fastback with a 289 hipo, rally pack, pony interior,4 speed, 3.50 tl, wonderbar radio, and factory tissue dispenser. The car was appraised first to establish value, then the insurance company rated the policy on that value. The price you quoted is mighty cheap. I would question the payoff on a total loss and what exclusions are on the policy.

What Flash said. And then lots of those types of policies let you drive your car to shows and parades and to the shop for maintance and thats ALL. Be sure to read the fine print. For what its worth I pay about $400 for comprehensive insurance with $500 deductible for one year but after October I just put fire and theft on, till may, for about $80 so I pay about $240 a year and can drive it when ever I want plus if it gets wrecked its insured for the apppraised value.

I talked with them today and they said it was limited use. Not to be driven to work or as a daily driver. The limit was 2500 miles/year. The problem is in CA we've been hit with a huge increase in ins costs. Last time I paint 320/year and the same company wants 660/year.
I guess what I really need is something in between or at least not so limited.
