2001 Ford F250 Super Duty Diesel will not start

I just purchased this truck from my Uncle. I had a 99 with no problems. The other day I started up it stayed on for a second and turned off. It did this gain on me and I noticed the oil pressure was very slow like more than 5 seconds to come up. I was going to take it in to see the problem today and it would not start at all. Any suggestions

Two possibilities come to mind right away. First, does the tach move while cranking? If not, possible CPS. Second, battries not fully charged can spin the starter, but have enough umph to start the truck. Many folks on here have had that issue lately. Eveyone thinks it can't be battries because it spins well. Check the voltage at the battery while someone cranks the starter. Should stay above 11.5 volts. I am sure others will chime in with other possibilities, be patient.

Would this CPS problem be related to my Oil Pressure being slow to come up? There has only been a problem when I tried to start it. I have observed this oil pressure issue for three days. Today it left me stranded.

Thanks,
Neil

Check the HPOP level. If it leaks down you will have no pressure at the injectors. If it's low top it off to within one inch from the top. It should start then.
