thankyou cookie

closest place is 45 mins away. not too bad. not going to make a special trip though. next time i am down there i will get some hopefully. curious to see how it makes my psd run.
by the looks of that map boy you can really buy that stuff in the plains states. i bet it is probably pretty cheap there too. i can only imagine how much ours is if they only sell it 4 places is this state.

WOW, there's actually a place near work. In the column "blend" I see different things, B20, all,b2,b100. Excuse my ingorance, but what does it mean and what type can I safely put into an '02?

the 20, 100, etc is the percent biodiesel in the fuel. The rest is regular diesel. Yoiu'll get different answers on which you can use; I'm no expert.

from my understanding, you can run straight B100 (or 100% bio). B stands for bio, and the trailing number is the % of bio mixed with #2.

This is the main reason I am looking for a PRE 6.0 as IIRC, the 6.0 it's recommended NOT to run higher than B20 (same with the GM/DuraMax, and Cummins HO engines...might be wrong on those though).

Anyhow..I am looking at a 2003.4 and a 2002 late build date truck now. There are several on other forums running straight 100 (even some with unheated WVO/#2 mixes) on the 7.3. The only recommendation for both is to install a LP to get it to to the IP (thus reducing the amount of suction required to get the fuel from tank through filter etc).

Since this thread has evolved into a biodiesel discussion I'll move it into the bio forum.

LP as in propane? I guess you also need to add a large amount of standyne or diesel kleen to prevent it from gelling. Woner how much to uactually use?

Coffee vs Diesel

Sometimes it helps a little to look on the bright side. Coffee 16 oz is $1.50 at a lot of these gas stations. There are 128 oz. in a gallon so that makes 8 cups of coffee to the gallon. I figure a gallon of coffee is $12.00.

And coffee is no good for us.

LP as in Lift Pump. IP as in Injection Pump. Instead of having the IP do all the work sucking fuel, you bring the fuel to the Injection Pump.

If you run b10 or b20 do you still need to worry about the LP? What's involved in installing one?

Welcome to the wierd world of biodiesel! You should NOT have to add an LP if you stay with blends of B-50 or less. I make and use B-100 and have put LP's on all my diesels. B-100 is "thicker" and may be a strain on the small gear pumps that are inside most IP's. FABMANDELUX
