I have no plans to change to the 6.4 at this time. With rumors circulating of FOUR EGR's!!!!!What other frillies did they add on there to break. Personally, I will wait to see if this new engine is worth the new purchase, or if it has additional growing pains to deal with.
Mine is working just fine so no motivation here to change. Not yet anyway. If I just gotta have one after a test drive, and can see a way to afford it, well, ya never know.

I've got a new 6.0 on the way because I liked the first one so much. I'll be due for a new truck in 2010. I hope the 06 won't be a mistake and I hope I don't get 6.4TT envy. I wonder how good the rumored "sorry we screwed you 6.0 owners" rebate will be?

I'll just wait to see that one to believe it. Though that would be an absolute enticement to bite the bullet and buy new again(if substantial). I just don't see Ford doing that.
I really love my 05 so I would miss her if I did break down and trade her in.

To keep up you'd have to buy new every couple years. I'm more than happy with my 05. I don't think it can get much better. The only envy would be power , but even that has to max out sometime. That's what the aftermarket is for. I'm good till major changes in 2010. If they're good.

And two turbos to boost, or not to boost, or with sticking vains, etc. etc. I will stick with my 6.0...it runs great. BTW, I live here on the Westside of Los Angeles, and I see lots of new future Fords being tested, some with weird tape and coverings over the front and back. Yesterday I saw the new Lincoln SUV that is based on the Freestar. Anyhow, I also saw a 350 Dually diesel shortbed with Mich. manufacturer plates with some kind of thing attached to a wheel hub with a cable running up to the cab..wonder what that was about?

Personally, I have had very good results with my 04/04, and I'm very happy with it, but it was just dumb luck that I got a 04 instead of an 03.

I have to say based on the HELL that 03 owners had to go through, I will never buy a first year engine from Ford again.

I have really enjoyed my 05 6.0 PSD. More power than I every truely need at any one time, but hay that is part of the fun. The one thing that would make me more likely to change to the new 6.4TT would be an improvement in MPG and more replicable readings between vehicles and mileage. I hope that if Ford does go with the 6.4TT that they have really worked on the bugs and kinks before it hits the market.

I would consider it very foolhardy to buy a first year engine. Let someone else shake the bugs out of it.

I hope everyone doesn't have that philosophy, or the bugs will never get worked out- because there won't be any out on the road.

My truck will be paid off by May of 2006, so hopefully I will be able to get ahold of an 07 by the time they debut, without getting rid of my current one. I'll be more than happy to beta-test

After re-reading my message, maybe I came off like a butt. I didn't mean it that way.

Maybe I should have said: If it were me, I would steer clear of any first-year production.

Those "frillies" are there to make aftermarket tuners lose their mind. =o)

Telemetry to a computer inside. Among other things, it records speed, distance, and the computer keeps track of time. Remember your algebra class where the instructor said that with any two parts of the formula, you can know the answer? The computer equipment is much more sensitive than the speedometer installed in the truck, and the computer can be taken out and the data fed to another computer for detailed analysis.

I was talking to the tech that did my recall work and he explained to me that the 6.4TT is likely only going to be an 18 month run. Chrysler is not renewing their contract with Cummings and with Ford owning 35% of Cummings it "might" be that Ford starts putting the cummings motor in the 08 truck
