347.455 Modifications to height of vehicle.
(1) Except as further provided in this section, no person may operate any vehicle on a highway if modifications have been made to the suspension system, axles or chassis of the vehicle which cause any portion of the vehicle to ride more than 4 inches above the height of the vehicle specified by the manufacturer. The height of the vehicle shall be measured from the level surface on which the vehicle stands.

(2) If the modification is for the purpose of strengthening or improving handling, modifications may be made to the suspension system, axles or chassis of a 4−wheel drive vehicle or a motor truck which has a gross weight of not more than 8,000 pounds which cause the vehicle to ride 5 or less inches above the height of the vehicle specified by the manufacturer. The height of them vehicle shall be measured from the level surface on which the
vehicle stands.

(3) A 4−wheel drive vehicle or a motor truck which has a gross weight of not more than 8,000 pounds may be modified to use a tire and wheel size which exceeds the wheel and tire size specified by the manufacturer for the vehicle by up to 4 inches in radius.

Since you're over 8000 GVW you can only lift a maximum of 4 inches over stock.

I got pulled over and the cop measured my front bumper, he said it had to be less than 3 feet.... He kinda liked my truck, and we ended up BSing about it... He also said that my tires can not stick out more than 2 inches from the side.... i passed the bumper test, but if I had raised the bumper with the body lift I would have been nailed... I got a warning for speeding and cracked windshield... verbal too... lucky, I had a 6-pack in me....

Removing cats is possibly the dumbest thing you can do. Too loud of an exhaust will get you a noise violation. Removing a cat can get you a 10000 dollar fine for each one from the epa.

It's awfully funny how the government words things so that they can apply to specific circumstances and other circumstances are exempt. Like my F250 (GVWR of 8600) had ~31's from the factory and fits 35's, so according to what is written here, That would already be half of any amount of lift I can put in my truck. So If I put a 1" body lift and trim the bumper I bet it could fit 38's. and just like that its maxed out. quite the world we live in. If I had an F150 of the same year with a 5" suspension lift and 38's on it, it'd be taller than the F250 sits legally. But if you follow this rule and your front bumper is above 36" its also illegal. Don't like it...Don't like it at all...Probably a good thing nobody checks my truck.

HAHAHA. yeah right...dumbest thing you can do, my left foot. Take the catalytic converters off of ANY vehicle and tell me that you're not pulling at least 1 mpg better than with the cats on, which means you will go farther with the same amount of fuel, thus using less fossil fuels. The key to not getting a noise violation ticket is to use a muffler that isn't as loud as straight pipe and don't can on it every chance you get. I don't have anything good to say about the EPA either and I'm not gonna start on them.

I was wondering if my 99 Explorer XLT is legal with a 4 inch suspension lift and a 3 inch body lift, with 35s? Thanks.
