Question Rear liftgate popping open on it's own??

2005 Explorer XLT 4x4

On two seperate occasions this week my rear lift gate opened on it's own while driving down the road after driving over some minor R/R crossing nothing big.

It was not open when I started it or else it would have showed up on the message center upon starting up the car. It occured about four miles down the road. It would all of a sudden say "Liftgate ajar" then a short time later it would pop open! Has anyone experienced this with their Ex's??

Go to the dealership and explain about your hatch problem. This can be dangerous hauling something in the back and fall off the truck. And if its raining you could have a very wet and dirty carpet and seats from the turbulance from highway speeds. Good luck

Obvious problem with locking mechanism. Should be a warranty item.
