I smell gas

I'm smelling gas in my cab after and during hard acceleration. I thought it was maybe loose gas cal or something but last night when I got home I could smell it strong when I walked around to the front of the truck. Could the injectors be leaking? Is there a effective way to test the system at idle in the driveway?

just start with following your fuel lines. You never know what will break when.

check your oil right away. if it smells like gas you have a bad fuel pressure regulator. it would need to be changed right away and your oil drained before its driven further otherwise the gas will wash the bearings an you will need a rebuild

Thanks, I'll check the oil tonight. Is it possible that the o-rings around the injectors have worn out to the point that they would leak that bad?

i have the same year rig , i guess it could be possible but you would see evidence of it happening when you look around them especially after driving around. thats why i think the fpr is more of the issue.

the regulator if it fails causes lots of extra fuel to be dumped into the motor. the gas drains down past the rings and into the pan. if you run the motor or even turn it over enough times the gas will wash the bearings and eat gaskets. its really bad.

One more question on this, is the fuel pressure regulator the part that sits at the back of the block on the driver's side?
