Just got back from aruba and can say that I will never go back. It's the most expensive island I've been on and I don't know why. The island reminds me of albuquerque new mexico.....barren and ugly and dry.
Other than the sea itself which is great but not for scuba diving....in my opinion.
Not to speak of the halloway case being screwed up by the dutch.
In the future it will be the bahamas all the way.
I'm headed there Sunday. But, we'll be on a Schooner going from Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao etc. We'll spend little time actually on Aruba.
I'm dissapointed to hear that about the diving. I understand Bonaire to be really good. We did Belize last year, so just about any place could be a dissapointment.
I once had the opportunity to spend a year on Arouba, but for several reasons I turned it down. A friend and co-worker took the assignment and told me later that I had made the right decision. He said that after the tourist phase wore off, it was just another expensive and boring place. Best advise, go, enjoy, leave.
