I just got done putting a 79 body on a 76 chassis--everythiong works fine except I don't have spark. I had to wire my ignition module directly into distributer and coil-and I'm almost positive it is wired right. The truck ran good before I did the body swap...so I don't think that the coil, dist., or module are bad.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-Jul-02 AT 10:32 AM (EST)]76-F150, Both the 76 and 79 have the Duraspark ignition, so the wiring should be the same. You should have the orange, purple, and black wires going from the module to the distributor. The green wire goes from the module to the coil negative post. The other 2-wire harness coming from the module (red and white wires) connects to a plug coming out of the wiring harness. They eventually go to the ignition switch. Maybe you don't have these (red & white) hooked up?
Good luck. Don
Almost forgot: The coil positive wire goes through the ballast resistor wire, and to the switch. If you check it with a voltmeter, it will have 7-9v on it at the coil, with the switch on.
