I tried to install a super chip yesterday but had trouble with it once downloaded. My truck would not idle very good but once I stepped on the peddle, the truck would spit, cough, shake and die, anybody with any similar problems or suggestions? I even returned the first one thinking it was a super chip error but to no luck. Could it have anything to do with having 237,000 mles? The truck runs great prior to trying to install and after i un-installed the super chip.

 

Which mode were you tring to program in? Have you checked for error codes? It is possible that you are not getting the amount of fuel it is expecting to crate the combustion level it is trying to reach. Any other mods?

 

No error codes are showing up and no other mods. I am thinking it has something to do with the fuel, it seems as if it is being chocked off from fuel.

No other mods have been done at all!

It may be the wrong program for that year, is why I ask.

 

Yes in addition, the box mentions that it works for yrs 1994 -2002.

 

If its a single bank chip, it need to be specific to your PCM. Does the code on the chip match your PCM code??

 

Well, first of all, when you say chip you actually mean tuner right? Not the chip that you have to place on the pcm, but the one you upload through the OBD port.

Secondly, you prolly have the tee5 pcm code, which is one of the stoutest pcm's from the factory, it will not like the ICP increase per say. But the truck should run fine once you hit the fuel.

Does the truck already have a chip in it? Look on the PCM and make sure it doesn't because, that will create a problem.
