Ford Palm Pilot Diagnostic Scanner

This is basically directed for Ford techs - we own a couple independent repair shops in KY and have had enough with the PATS system and the PCM reprogramming that we are constantly missing out on and having to send customers to the dealerships.

We bought a new Palm Pilot diagnostic scanner from Ford and are waiting to received it. Anyone give me any heads up info on it? Does it work pretty good and is it worth the money?

Thanks

Left this part out - the tech that sold it to us told us that it would show cylinder misfire data on all the late model Fords IE show which coil is bad?? Any truth to that? Sure would be nice.

Can't answer your main question, but the $100 OBD II scanners will show which cylinder is misfiring. I hope you either get more than that, or didn't pay much more than that.

I'm talking about live cylinder misfires - not just a P0303 etc code. We diagnose a lot of the COP that don't set a check engine light and set no codes - and this new Ford scanner is supposed to show live cylinder misfire data plus has the ability to reprogram PCM's and reprogram PATS keys etc.

Anyone else have any more info on this?

Thanks

We haven't got our PDS yet but according to http://www.motorcraftservice.com/vdi...&menuIndex1=16 it says that cylinder power balance testing is "Future Planned Content".

will it do other things like the abs, that rteally sucks when you have to go to Ford to pay 110.00 just to get the code and clear the code. another thing I have found a good question is it upgradable, that is really important? once you get it let us know what all it does and can do. I would buy one if possible, I also own my own garage. I have looked at other scanners out there that will do every thing but the cost of 5000.00 is costly.

It will do it all on OBDII Fords. We have a really good relationship with a local Ford dealer we buy all our parts from - they sold it to us for their cost $2395 plus 10%. I'm eager to see what all it can do for us.
