Doesn't start, tach wont move but new cps???

Issues again here.

I went to start the truck up today, I haven't been driving it much lately, only 2 days a week, well i go to start it i hear the relays click, wait to start light goes out and I go to start it but it just spins and I hear something clicking as its spinning. So I stop, try it again, notice that the tach isn't moving. Well I just replaced the CPS 3 weeks ago. Ok i take out the old CPS that was fine (back up) I put it in still nothing and the tach still isnt moving.

Anyone has any suggestions? I didn't disconnect the battery or pull the #9 (is it #9?) fuse when i changed it, think that could be it? I'm going to go disconnect the battery and let it sit then try again. Any help would be great. thanks!

try jumping it or putting a battery charger on it. sometimes you can have enough juice to turn the engine over but not start it.

could also be a wiring issue with the cps wiring or it went bad.

Clean the connector for the CPS real good with contact cleaner or starting fluid. It gets alot of moisture sprayed up on it from below. It might have a dried film of ***** on it.

Good luck,

Austin

The CPS signal goes directly to the PCM, then it is sent to the tach from the PCM. Go to your owners manual and check all fuses that relate to the PCM, along with the PCM power relay and the PCM diode under the hood in the battery junction box. You might find the problem there. Just some things to check.

Be sure to push the CPS wire plug all the way into the CPS until the tab goes over the locking protrusion. When I put in mine, I couldn't see or hear a locking click, so just felt the tab over the locking protrusion to make sure it was all the way in.

Got her going earlier today, after changing the cps back to the other i figured next easiest thing would be to jump it (plus i ran the batteries dead). So i jumped it and sho-nuff it started up. Went and bought two new batteries today and it starts WAY faster then it ever did. I knew my batteries were low but wow what a difference, sounds like the mini-starter off my car cranking over so fast.
