Interesting, the recall is only including certain models. I hate to admit it, but I have to agree with Ralph Nader. That defective switch has been used on alot of other Ford vehicles beside the ones they've stated in the recall. My 2000 Ranger uses that defective switch as well as my wifes '01 Sport Trac. Hopefully Ford will get their **** in gear & include those as welll!

Great!!! I was getting tired of not having cruise control. I unplugged mine a couple of months ago.

All I can say is its about time. Ford isn't replacing the switch in this recall. They are adding a fuse link. Its better than nothing.

I remember reading about someone on here replacing their own switch. How difficult of a job? I do NOT have time to wait around at the dealer.

You should have the dealer do this. That way youll know its done right. Shouldnt take to long I think.

I guess unplugging the switch would be a good temporary fix while waiting to have ford fix it?

They did not include the SD's in the recalls.

Time to call a friend at the dealership (Parts Department) and see if it will fit. The pic I saw has the switch on the top, not canted out the side/bottom.

The old switch just unscrews from the top of the master cylinder and the new switch screws right in. The wiring adapter justs connects to the new switch and the connector on the harness that connected to the old switch. Took me about 5 minutes in the dealer parking lot. Advice from the Ford tech is to loosen your master cylinder cap before you pull off the old switch and wait till the brake fluid bleeds to the top than put in the new switch. This does not require you to bleed the brakes or anything like that after either, that was my first question too. Good luck.

Awesome. Well, not awesome. But I am glad that finally all those people in those fires got the word out.

Guess we will all be getting the letter soon.

Can anyone confirm that it doesn't include the switch itself, just the harness? The reason I ask is I bought the "repair kit" from Ford a month ago (it included harness and new/different switch). Will I still be able to get a refund even though they aren't covering everything that was sold to me(if that's the case)? It was less than $20, but still...

I believe we should get an refund, I did the same thing. They are going to add an fueable link and not replace the switch. WOnder what happens if they find one thats leaking, (charge 100 bucks to install a new switch because its not under warrenty, lol)
