7.3 4x4 getting 10 mpg??

Hes got 90 on the clock and he says hes getting 10 with no trailer and 7 with a trailer??? I get way better then that on mine. The only difference I can think is I have 3.73s and its not a 4x4 and his has 4.10s and its a 4x4

Any help? There are no codes or anything.

I only get 12 mpg to 16 mpg in a F-350 4x4 with the 3.73 but I would have all the filters checked

See if any of the wheels are hot after your next several mile trip. You might be loosing some mpg due to friction somewhere.

On a recent trip from Albany NY, to Cleveland Ohio around 475 miles, i got around 16.5 mpg, with a 99 F-350, 7.3, 4X4, 3.73 gears, with a crew cab, but with maunal locking 4X4 hubs. I drove normal (to me) highway speeds of 75! I have 155,600 miles. I am pretty real happy with the truck, but not with these fuel prices

I average 19.5 with a 99 F-350 7.3l 4x4 manual hubs, extended cab, short bed with a cap.

I agree, the gas mileage sounds low unless he runnig 410's. I can 10-12 pulling a trailer and 15-17 without pulling anything.

Hes running 4.10s, I drove it again yesterday, its very sluggish when your first mash the gas then at about 2300 the boost kicks in and it seems alright. Im changing the fuel filter, air filter and putting a boost gauge on it tomorrow.

With 4.10s should not be sluggish at all. I have a 4X4 and when it was stock it wasn't sluggish with 3.73s. Yeah check the fuel and air filters. Lots of black smoke when you get on it? Good luck.

I ran a similar trip this summer, from Cleveland to a little north of Albany in the mountains and back and I got just over 19 @65 mph AC on. But I have the 250 w/super cab only and 3.73s But I only get 12.75 MPG around town.

I paid $2.99/gal this morning. Gotta do more research about processing waste veg oil.!!!
