The battery cable to the PDB is a POSITIVE cable. Be carefull handling it and disconnect the battery negative cable before attempting to torque the nut on the PDB end.
Yep, replacing parts to diagnose the problem is usually a lose/lose situation. The money spent likely would have easily covered the cost of a professional diagnostic, no? Not being judgemental, just advisory.
Yeah- I have no codes, but I haven't spent any money yet. I have a friend at the local parts store and he sold me a coil pack and TPS. I put both of them on and tried it out to see if it fixed it. He let me return both of them. I guess I will have to go and let someone see if they can find a problem. Also, my dad might have been joking but he said it could maybe be a burnt valve. Does this sound realistic? Thanks for replying and the suggestions/info.

Johnny,
Glad to have you here at FTE and in the 4.2 forum!
Not sure I can give you any help with your problem beyond what is discussed in this thread.
Hope you get your problem resolved and hope you stick around and visit is often.
Just got my truck out of the the shop and the mechanic said I had two cracked spark plugs. He replaced them for $150! I didn't care as long as I got it fixed. Well here I am 2 weeks later and the stupid thing is doing the SAME THING. He said there was nothing else that could be causing this problem. My only guess is that he might have cracked a spark plug when he was installing them.

If it's an automatic, try downshifting to a lower gear. If it fixes the problem, you got a valve problem in your trans, usually from improper service. I have experienced this problem, in my mom's car. I am no professional, but not a beginner either. I swore it was missing, but it was the trans hunting the right gear, uphill only, at part throttle.Just a suggestion.
Thanks for the information, but it is a 5-speed. I guesss I will take it back to the guy and see what he has to say. Since he put the new spark plugs in, it doesn't seem to skip as bad. Thanks for the information guys!

located on the back side on the intake (between the intake and the firewall).
They operate at approx 3000 rpm to switch between short/long intake runners.
