King Pin Removal Questions
#16
I remember redoing them on a 56 years ago. I learned four things: #1 I would have them done at a machine shop. #2 A lot of new curse words. #3 Even more new curse words. #4 Having new ones make a huge difference. If you have the correct tools to do them it helps but I would suggest a good machine shop, the cost would be worth it. Good Luck........

I took mine to the local NAPA machine shop, where I was assured that they had done them regularly, and used an adjustable reamer to do them. I got them back with a little more slop than I'd like. Cost was only $20 each (I had put the new bushings in already).
By the way, as I recall you have to align the holes in the bushings with the grease passages in the spindle?

I strongly suggest that you take your front axle to a front end shop that has a Sunnen reamer or similar for doing kingpins. You really want them to fit nice and tight. Any slop will just contribute to poor steering.
They did it pretty quick and it wasn't that much.

HT32BSX115, I would take it to a shop except for a few reasons. 1. Can't afford to. 2. I just finished taking machine shop at Vo-Tech so I understand tight tolerances and the processes of machining. 3. My dad has a buddy with a spindle reamer but he is a good 50-60 miles away and gas is outrageous. 4. Finally if I know the reamer size I can have my old Vo-Tech instructor do it.
