Ceramic pads on '03 F150
Are Hawk Ceramic pads OK for for my '03 4x4 Styleside 4x4?
I just put on a set of chrome Weld wheels and M/T MTX tires and I know the factory pads leave a terrible mess on the factory AL wheels, and by looking at the stock pads there about shot. Just about to hit 35,000 mi.
The "sticky" on the top of this forum category had a link to buybrakes.com but they do not have the ceramics. A google search showed me they exist for my truck but I was wondering if there is a reason, like they dont do well with trailer pulling etc.
I do an occasional trailer pull once or twice a year, thats it.
I'm thinking PowerSlot rotors, I've had them on previous vehicles, and the Hawk Performance Ceramic pads all the way around
Any suggestions on the rear disks and pads? I normally don't change them at the same time because they usually dont need it and when I do I usually put OE type back on. In this case I'd want at least the cermaic pads all the way around, but are stock rotors OK for rear. I cant see that much benefit of spending the $$ for rear powerslots but if anyone has had postitive results with them I'd like to know.
THANX

I don't know about the Hawk brand but I put a set of Raybestos Quietstop ceramics on my 2003 supercrew about a year ago. They dust way less than the originals and what dust they make doesn't really stick. They're also very quiet and seem to be wearing pretty well considering we pull a camping trailer a lot during the summer.

I've gone through many sets of brake pads and rotors in the past 60,000 miles. Stock, Semi-metallic, Carbon Metallic, and Ceramic on my 99 F-150.....The ceramic pads are by far the best pads i've used yet! Great stopping power, no fading after repeated hard use, very little dust and best of all, they havent warped the rotors! Im using the cheap Autozone rotors for the front, Morse Ceramic pads front and rear, and still using the original rear rotors...and they work fantastic, even with 35 inch tires! My friend is running the same exact setup with 37's and he loves them.....so you dont need to get power-slot rotors, stock will do just fine. Autozone sells the Morse Ceramic pads for $49 and rear for $44 with a 2 year warranty. Autozone.com has free shipping on orders over $50 too. But if you wanna get Hawk pads, then go for it since your familiar with the brand.
