FX400 vs. Lifted F4

FX400 vs. Lifted F4
I was looking for a lifted F4 when I came across a FX400. The interior is the same as the F4 (Graphite), which I really like, but I keep thinking that maybe I can buy a basic F4 and do the lifting, wheels & rimms etc. aftermarket. But the dealer keeps saying that would void my warranty...What is the general idea behind lifting it yourself, or buying it this way, w/ a warranty (exept the cost)? And what lift package (liftkit, wheels & rims etc.) would you recommend? I do not plan on racing or climb huge mountains. Mostly for looks.
I know the FX400 is modified @ http://www.roll-a-long.com and the fenders look great, so can I get the same fenders etc. or would this be a complete pain in the A..? And would I really save that much money doing it myself?
Thank you!

Welcome to the Club. I would contact the company and let them know what you want: lifted truck with 33" tires, 17" rims, or 6" lift with 35". See what tires and rims they are planning to put on the truck. You might be able to add a few more MODS for them and let them do the work. Since they do work closely with FORD, then perhaps this might be the best way. Check out EBAY for rims and tires and other options and speak to your local shop and see what numbers they come up with. If the difference isn't that much, then I would have that company do the work, if the spread is over the top, then I think you know the answer. All the best, and let us know what you've come up with. If they do it it's covered, but if you do it, it's not?
Sounds like a scam to selll the overpriced dealer installed options.
I could understand if they voided parts of the warranty, like, things caused by the suspension. But, if you're using a kit they're using, that's bullshet to base warranty on who installed it (and out of pocket costs)
