Filters, Filters, Filters

Just curious what everyone is using on their trucks. I'm usually looking at cost (not always the smart thing to do) and buy air and oil filters at Wally World. I generally use FRAM filters for both. Forgetting about the cost, what is everyone else using and how satisfied are you?

I use Fram "air only".........

Use Motorcraft 1995 or Fleetguard LF3630 powerstroke oil filters for better filtration, you need to add 1 extra qt to the fill. I also get fleetguard FG 1281 fuel filters, Fleetguard is cheapest at IH for my 7.3......

Motorcraft oil filter, Fram air. Not set on a fuel brand, was using Hasings, currently using a Carquest.

Purolator air filter, Fleetguard oil and fuel filters.

No sence wasting a good motor with cheap filters.

K&N lets to much dirt through, even though it is not a cheap filter.

I don't trust Fram Filters I pretty much use nothing but Wix or Motorcraft. You need a good oil filter you can't fool around with a junk filter it just lets the crap float around your engine.

I stopped using fram (notice lack of caps) when my '90 gasser blew it up like a balloon and it was brand new, been using Wix (Napa) since then and have not had a problem, I tried to use the PSD filter but it was too long, might just be a sagging engine/suspension.

There is actually a tsb from mopar that states to only use certain filters, and recommends against Fram usage because the inside media can come apart and plug the oil metering nozzles. It states the only approved filters for warranty covered are:
Cummins,Mopar,Fleetguard,Purolator,Motorcraft,AcDE lco, and lists the part numbers for each.

I always used either a Motorcraft fl1995 (powerstroke filter) or Purolator version oil filter, Baldwin fuel filters(with built in seperator, cause i never had one), and Purolator air filter.

I have been using K&N on the air(Will go back to paper Wix when it bites the dust someday)

Motocraft or Wix on the oil.

Motocraft or Wix on the fuel.

I won't defile my truck with a fram.

Baldwin and Fleetguard are cheep-o filters. They are store brands the truck supply stores sell to substitute of CAT or Cummins, etc. Just like buying a K-Filter from K-Mart or Superguard from Wal Mart.
I was running Fleetguard and sometimes Baldwin filters in my Freightliners until a guy in the business for a long time told me I should run at least CAT fuel filters, that the big crappy engines, (3406E), really like them. I gave it a try and my drivers were impressed with the improvement, and we all know CATs need all the help they can get.

I have always used fleetgard in all our vehicles and heavy equipment. Haven't had any problems and some equipment has over 7000 hours with no problems or major repairs.
