And you think you can actually do something about this or stop it. This has been going on forever. No one in the past has controlled the fuel prices by not buying their fuel. If you want to do this, that's fine, but don't expect every Tom, Dick and Harry to jump on a boat that is going nowhere.

What's needed is for the big rig drivers to boycott. When groceries stop showing up at the local food mart the issue will get plenty of attention..

fast freddie:your idea is correct. but it has always been hard to get all the truckers to ban together for a common cause. if everyone buys less of it, that helps.
fordafied: i said nothing of the sort that everyone should do what i am doing. you were the one that started this war with sell it if you cant afford it. everyone can make their own choice. if you feel like paying $67+ dollars per barrel and $2.60+ for gas/diesel then go ahead. most people can afford a american truck but buy a import instead. why because its cheaper and more efficent. thats the choice people make. its america...

this past sunday morning i went ti fill up and the girl said ya better hurry,, we are going up .15c here in a minute. I noticed her guy was out there diggin thru a box of number for the signs. It was already 2.479,,I told her i heard fuel was going up but the fuel in your tanks over there in the ground hasnt gone up any.. Her only response was" you didnt see on the news that the price of oil went way up the past couple of days, That means gas is going up too". Thats the kind of attitude that burns me,,everyone out to make MORE money. And the oil companys,,always setting record profits..!! I have 3 Peterbilts running down the road somewhere and I will park them or send them to the white house like we did years ago, If we could only get enough people organized to get some attention and make a difference. I have my doubts that will ever happen though..Its all over the news here in East texas that Gas And Diesel will be over 3.00 in the next 30 days. Its really starting to take its toll on me, I get at the MOST an 80.00 Fuel surcharge on the loads we haul from Dallas to Atlanta and back, and my fuel cost has doubled from what it was last year at this time, and the freight rates havent changed a bit. The bread and butter we haul hasnt gone up at the stores either. I wish i was showing record profits..!!! Something is going to have to change or there is going to be a lot of small companys like me who are going to have to close up,, as it is now, My drivers make twice what i do off the trucks, this cant continue..

Stations don't pay for the gas when it is put in the storage tank, they pay for it from the meters on the pumps as it comes out.

thats not true...at least here in western NY. We pay for the delivery >>>WHEN ITS DROPPED in the underground tank....the NEXT load ...after an increase is more costly to the station owner...but the stuff in the tank is already paid for...a little vig for the owner...NICE!...how's that fair?

the state charges a PERCENTAGE of sales price as taxes...rather than a fixed tax per gallon....SOOOOO....guess who is getting a windfall from these sky high prices?????......think they could give us a break....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!

funny how BUSHY ...now that he doesnt need to get re-elected again took care of all his oil buddies (and himself)...took gas and diesel over 100 years to reach 1.35...now in the last year or so its almost doubled.

gotta save those IRAQI PEOPLE that we keep hearing about...I hear gas is like .15-.25 a gallon over there.

Guess it is different here, or it may have changed in the 20 years since I worked at a gas station.

claw302, What makes you think our president controls the oil prices in the Middle East. You stated "our president lets the middle east raise oil prices to buy more weapons" I am sure the President can just call them up and say “hey fellers that is just 20 cents too much" and they say "OK boss". Yeah right!
News flash for you. Do you think America is the only place they get their money? How about all the other countries that support the Middle East. I guess if you were here for WWII you would have stopped eating rice? The world is full of the Gen. Oliver North's. Nothing you can do about it.

The reason trucking companies are not talking boycott is because they got smarter(no pun intended, my dad drives) They now keep raising thier fuel surcharge to make up for it, or atleast soften the blow. Thats the only reason there is no attempt at a boycott now, and there was years ago when it was ALOT less.

Hate to correct you but your wrong. That gas is paid for by debit within minutes of the order being placed. No fuel supplier/producer is going to drop off 30,000 gallons of gas on credit.

So the gas that there raising the price on daily at the pumps is actually pre-paid at a lower rate a week earlier.

Here's an interesting story that was told to me. It makes sence, but you be the judge.

My old neighbor was a LT. Cmd in the Navy. He was one of the first ships to dock in Kuwait during Desert Storm, in 91. Anyways he was in charge of paying dock fees etc... I was amazed at how much money a ship carries on it too pay the locals when a Ship comes to port. Anyways right after that war the price of oil coming through Kuwait, increased in price. As he put it too me, the rule that eveyone lived by, in the govt, at that time, was to allow the price coming through Kuwait to be inflated. The reason, they were the only country that was attempting to pay back there debt to America, for coming to there rescue. WHen the debt was paid back oil stabilizied.

You want to stabilize oil costs in this country, we need to do a few things.

1. Uncapp the thousands of wells in the United States that are reserved for Military Use. (Believe me there are thousands. We grew up with family friends that had wells all over Texas and Oklahoma, that were capped and paid for annually by the govt, for what they would have produced)

2. Screw the Tree Huggers and Fish Kissers and start pumping Oil in Alaska.

3. Invest the billions needed to manufacture, produce and distribute Bio-Diesel. The infastructure of service stations and distribution networks is already in place. We need to get the big three auto makers to start gearing up for the manufacture of Bio-Diesel vehicles.

Think about this, if a bunch of Farmers and Tree Hugging Birkenstock wearing enviromentalists can figure out how to run a tractor and an old V.W. diesel Jetta, on bio-fuel, then we as a nation should be able to tell the rest of the world to pound sand in 10 years because we no longer need your dependency on crude oil, to run our nations trucks.

NOT EXACTLY TRUE....the investments are placed in a blind trust for the term of the Presidency....ya think he disolved everything and put it in money market accounts or a mattress??????

DO you REALLY think Bush does his thing for the $400,000 salary the job pays?...the "brown envelopes" he gets must be the size of tractor trailers...otherwise the multi- millionaire candidates wouldnt fight so hard for the job....and how about that "smilin" Dick Cheney????.....he is quite happy running under the radar and filling his pockets with cash from Halliburton rebuilding Iraq......

Bush is a master of distraction...notice how the BRAC comission has all out senators and congressmen spending all their time trying to keep military bases open????....then they have no time to watch what Bushy does and he just pushes everything HE wants thru....NOW the gas price situation...not only indirectly fills his oil industry pockets it distracts everyone from bigger issues.....Hes the kind of guy everyone under estimates because he acts like a retard...but he knows what hes doing for his own well being....
