Buying A 2005 F-150 XLT?
Hi guys,
I have been reading these forums for just a little while now, but I couldn't find much info about people buying new trucks as of late with this new employee pricing. That being said, I am considering buying a 2005 F-150 5.4 V8 XLT 2WD Extended Cab Long Bed. Whew that's a lot to say! After all the discounts, the price on the truck was $24,965.How much have you heard of dealership negotiating the prices on the rest of the 05's at this point? I am thinking that dealerships are trying to move the rest of the 05's for the 06's that are soon to be on their lots. In your guys opinion, how far off that price do you think I can get this truck at? Or will they not budge much at all?
Thanks everyone!

Welcome moreilly, by long bed I assume you mean the 8' bed. If so, be aware that this configuration only comes with the Heavy Duty Payload Package with 4.10 axle and 7-lug wheels. A friend of mine just bought one like this and is bummed by the lack of wheel choices. Maybe something to consider. Good luck!

I think you still have some wiggle room on that price. That said, if they lower the price because you have a trade....then you are giving up money on your trade.
If you trade, appraise it first and stick to your guns on what its worth. Carmax will buy your car, and they will give you a free appraisal. Don't feel you have to trade at the dealer.

Employee Pricing
I just bought mine, I priced check the truck at 3 different dealers. They all came in exactly the same. The only difference was the options it had on it. You may shave some $$$ on the accessories such as a tonneau cover. I tried negotiating the sale price of the truck, they wouldn't budge. There was a lot of flexibility before the employee pricing kicked in.
Try negotiating - it never hurts.

Imagine the shock for Lariat owners.

I just bought 2005 F-150 XL SuperCab 4x4 4.6L for $21,000. MSRP was little under $29,000. I couldn't beleive it was that low, I was planing to trade my Mustang but I kept it at the end and I got F-150. Sweet deal.
I don't know where you're living, but you don't wanna 4x2. Its gonna be nightmare driving during the winter if you live in place that gets a lot of snow.

I just recently bought a 2wd 05 F150 XLT Supercab Shortbed 5.4 3.73LS tow package, two tone chaptain chairs, alloy rims, fog lights, cd, power wind/locks, and paid $21,900 here in Atlanta. That was with the Family Plan and $3000 rebate. You might be able to get them to come down some on that price.

I was shopping today for my new Screw. I have had two 04 Screw 4x4 lariats prior and wanted to trade my current lariat in on a 05. Heres how it went: My trade in value was 24,500 (04 lariat 4x4 Screw with 23k), that same truck same equip. and same milage brought me 28,500 last August. The new lariat on x plan was 35,200, on family plan was about 33,100. Then minus the 3,300 in rebates, left the truck around 30,000 using the family plan. Basically 2-2,500k less than I bought the same truck for last august.
Conclusion: Yes the new fords are priced pretty good right now. Do not bother trading in your 04, as you will get nothing due to the well priced 05's. The private market will totally suck until the Family plan goes away and allows for values to rise again. The current market is great for those buying a truck without a trade in the deal, or another modle or make that would be in demand. Happy Hunting

$18,906.30. Much cheaper, but has 4.6 instead of 5.4 and regular bed instead of extended bed.
