dumbest ? ever

i really feel like a short bus but im not really that mechanically wise so please give me a few pointers. i recently(1st time) put my 1989 bronco deuce in 4 wd drive and i cant get it out of 4wd for the life of me. im not even sure if it needs to be in park or neutral. all i know is the last time i tried to shift it to 2wd it stopped in the road and woudnt drive till i shifted back to 4wd. its almost impossible to push the stick back to the 2wd position can someone please tell me how to make it all normal again. ive been driving for to long in 4wd now and it really is limiting the distance i can travel.

First thing it to make sure your hubs are not locked in {if you have manual hubs}then you will not damage your front end.If you got auto hubs then dont drive it on any hard survices {spelling}.You do need to stop the truck and with the tranny in park or neutral.pul the 4x4 shift lever towards your feet then pull back till you feel the next notch,this should be 2 hi.the next notch is neutral,then back one more is 4low.I would crawl under the truck find the lickage and make sure its not bent or that something is not hung in it.Also spray it real cood with a good spray lube.hope this helps.
