cooling characteristics of a 96 PSD

If my engine idles and cools down a bit after it has been running hot (from pulling a load and/or the hot summer temps) and I start driving off again,it will sound slightly louder and will accelerate sort of sluggishly--is this normal? Whatever it is, I think it has to do with the engine cooling itself. The truck is a '96 PSD 5spd. Do you guys have any ideas as to what this is, Im pretty curious-THanks, Drew Stuart

its definitely not the EBPV, Ive already gutted it. I dont necessarily think there is anything wrong w/ the engine that would make it do this, I just think it is a result of cooling a hot engine down quickly. Im really curious to hear if anyone else has noticed their PSD doing this--Like I siad it only happens when the engine has been working hard and is well up to operating temp.

Does it sound like a fan coming on?

Ya, the loudness of it sort of does sound like a loud fan mixed in of course w/ the regular engine noise. Its not "loud" as in the same sense that it is when I start it up on a frosty morning. THanks for the replies-DREW
