As long as it's holding and it's just got a dent or two, not totally crushed, you should be fine.

do you have the oil filter wrench? i have always been able to get them off with that. if not leaking alright to drive but i think you should try one more time, heck a 17 year old oil pan jockey is going to do what you cannot do, why?

on your next oil change make sure and use petroleum jelly on the rubber seal instead of oil. That will help in removal as oil tends to become a glue. Make sure and follow the follow the manufactures oil filter installation instructions. I believe that they mostly will say 3/4 to 1 full turn more after the seal contacts the metal surface. I have the strap type filter wrench and a Craftsman large adjustable set of plyers that I can take off 99.9% of all my filters when I worked at the Ford dealership.

hahahahahahahahaha! once i had to drive a screw driver through a very stubborn filter, i can't remember what it was on though. try getting the strap right near the bottom of filter by engine, put sand paper in if slipping. you can do it. and if you are 15 you can't drive to shop any way! hahahaha!
thanks for the laughs!

well, There is one of two possible solutions..

a) Drive it to the shop like you mentioned above and pay to have them remove it.

b) find yourself a long screwdriver and a hammmer (also mantionaed above). Pound the screwdriver through the oil Filter (in one side and out the other) and use the screwdriver as a handle to turn the filter. It will definitely come off that way (unless there is a strength issue)

the only problem with "b" is that once you do that, it is NOT driveable, so Option A will no longer be an option unless tyou have it towed.
