I got a repair sleeve for the harmonic balancer spacer but there are no instructions with it.....do I need a special tool to press it on.....and do I put some lock tite on it so it stays in place...??? need help with this one...
Thanks
Ya, some loctite would be good.
It's been years since I put one on one of my sleeves. I thought it came kinda long, like you had to break it off once you got it pressed on?? Maybe I'm way off base??
Loctite is a good idea, I'm surprised it did not come with it. A press is best, a hammer and block of wood will work if you are careful to start it straight.
A plastic dead blow hammer ( has steel shot in it to incease the force applied)
has always worked for me.... just be careful tho, those sleeves are very thin, and easy to mess up.
well here's how it worked for me.....I used a press at work....as long as you take your time to make certain that it starts out straight it's no problem....I watched it stretch as it moved down over the spacer... I put some red loctite on the sleeve to hold it on the spacer....turned out real good..
