I guess if it is the brake light on the dash then it could be a fluid leak in the brake system, a brake warning switch that needs reset, maybe the switch is stuck, the possibilities are many.
First check for fluid leaks, then if none are found try resetting the switch on the proportioning valve. I have also seen this caused by defective master cylinders, but usually the light is accompanied by a soft pedal.
So if there are no fluid leaks and the pedal feels fine I would bet that the switch needs reset.
