new to f-150's- couple questions

so last night i went and checked out a 2004 red fx4 reg. cab f-150. it had the 5.4, all power options, cd player, hard tonneau, bed liner, tow package, rear sliding window and 18 in. wheels. it only had alittle over 13k on the odo. they were asking $24k, but with tags and title it was mid $25's. was this a reasonable price for this truck? what rear does this truck have in it, as far as gear ratio? anything i should have checked or looked at upon getting this truck? thanks for your help guys!

From what I have seen that is a fairly resonable price (around here anyway).
If you want to buy used that's fine but unless you are dead set against new I would check there 1st. With the deals and insentives being offered you can get alot more truck for just a few thousand more. It's not unheard of to get xlt screws in the 28 range with reg cabs being less than that.

Welcome to the forum and whatever f-150 you decide on I'm sure you will love it!!!!!!!!!

im going from a jeep wrangler to a f-150. i know its not as much of an off-roader as a jeep, but i dont plan on doing that anyway. so what gears are in the rear of this truck? is that an 8" rear also? i noticed it did not have the stock tires on it, it had the 18's wrapped in bfg rugged trail tires... looked good.

$24K is way to high for a used truck especially a reg. cab.I paid $26k out the door for a new loaded xlt screw 4x4,with all the rebates and incentives they have right now you should be able to get a new one for that price or less.

17 is a good average on the highway - I get anywhere between 16-19 on highway... not quite as good as the above 15 in town though... I get about 13 in town. SCrew Lariat 5.4L with 30K miles on it.

I agree 24K is WAY out of line. I think you could get a BRAND NEW as you describe for 25-26.

the 18'' rims wrapped in the bfg rubber is stock. thats one plus of it. i bought a take off set of those for my expy. the 25k is pretty steep for that. go to www.forddirect.com .make sure to have a oasis report done on it too. try www.flatratetech.com

I had my truck serviced yesterday, and spent some time looking at new trucks. There was a fulll loaded Screw lariat 4x4 for about 30,500.00, plus tax/tags. So 24k sounds a bit high, as you may be able to buy new for that same price. If your dead set on the used truck, try a private sale, I'm sure you'll do pretty good that way. The thing with buying used at a dealer is when they have the high rebates and such, it really drives the price of used trucks up.

Thats way too high. I paid 26400 for my FX4 super cab brand new last august and it only had 8 miles. mine has the 18s with BFG rugged trail, 3.73, dual paint colors (black w/ gray bottom color), 6-disc cd, trailer tow package and more... if i were you, i would definetly look new first.

Price seems too high. I'd see what you can get a new on for with the family plan going on now. Sounds like people are getting some pretty good deals because you can negotiate the family plan price whereas you cannot negotiate the aplan price.
