Hey folks. I am restoring a 79 F350 Supercab and having a difficult time deciding on a paint scheme. The truck originally had a two-tone scheme and I have all of the original molding upper and lower (in perfect cond). I flop between a sollid color (removing the lower trim) with some nice aftermarket chrome around the wheel wells, rocker panel etc.... and sticking to the original two-tone scheme. Looking for your opinion! Cheers!
I never really liked two-tones until I got my 79 a couple years
ago. It's the Dark Jade metallic (green) with white in the middle.
I think it looks really nice. Especially with all the trim in
good condition. I get compliments on it all the time.
I also like the red/white combo. They look pretty sharp when clean.
Other than those 2, I'd go 1 solid color. A few years ago I had
an 89 F250 that was the brown/beige combo and I hated it. In fact,
that was one of the main reasons for getting rid of it.
There's something to be said about putting it back to original
color, but only if you're going to be happy with it. I'd say look
through the gallery to get an idea of the different schemes.
Ultimately, pick what will please you. You're the one that has
to drive and look at it all the time.
If its a good paint job both will look nice. I kinda prefer the two tone myself, sets it off from other trucks. But the price is higher for a two tone paint job vs a single color.
man, there is nothing nicer than a balck and silver or silver and black two tone! one of this sites competitors had a picture of a one on the front of there catalog a while back and it is so nice i framed it for the garage wall! hawkrod (my two tone is white and desert camouflage, sometimes you need to think outside the box!)
I believe the two tone paint with the trim from the 70's with the race trak molding is the best two tone there ever was. Both of my trucks are two tone, one is factory paint still of matalic bronw and cream in the middle and the other is black with silver in the middle. If it were me and had all the trim in good shape i'd def got with two tone.
