How does one test the dpfe(?) that sits on the egr valve? Van is running fine. 90k miles on this van, owned for three months, 85k when purchased. Thanks in advance, John

You need a volt meter, vac pump and specs for the sensor. You apply vac to the sensor and read the voltage on the sensor return/output. It gets abit long to explain in detail.
Thanks everyone. How about oem vs. aftermarket? By the way, the ses light is off now. When it was on it didn't blink or go on & off intermittently. I didn't clear the code either with the code reader. Thanks, John
Oh, as to the aftermarket: Usually, when Ford does a bad thing, the aftermarket will cure it.
So, you can go back to Ford and buy the same crappy DPFE or go aftermarket and either get the same exact part (for less) or an improved one. (OF course, sometimes Ford supercedes a crappy part, but who knows unless you ask them).
