Whats in the 00M12 kit

I've been reading alot about the 00M12 kit and I am wondering what it comes with. Does it include the timing tensioner for the front and rear timing chains or do I have to order a seperate tensioner for the rear chain?
I'm going to fix it myself since the warrenty is up.

The 00M12 recall kit comes with upper and lower intake gaskets, the front timing chain tensioner, a restriction plug for the left head oil passage and an oil galley plug (that has to be removed to install the restriction plug).

I have seen very few engines have a problem with the rear timing chain or tensioner. What kind of problem are you having?

I am getting a rattling at start up and goes away within a couple seconds. It only does it periodically. I think its the tensioner. I wasn't sure if the rear one was a problem or not also.

It's been a long time since I priced one, but I don't remember them being all that expensive. If you tell the local Ford parts guy you want a price for an 00M12 kit, he should know what you want (if he isn't still wet behind the ears).

I just got back from the Stealership where I just purchased the 00M12 Recall kit. It does include everything "Big inch" stated plus the long 6" plastic rod the is also used to restrict oil flow.

I paid $38.xx for the complete kit.

Just ask the Parts Monkey for the 00M12 Recall "Kit". It comes in a small white box.

I know this is an old post, but just picked up the 00M12 kit, $45.45 here now.
Wife's 97' SOHC Explorer is clanking so bad I think the pistons are helping to close the valves. Really wish we got the OHV 4.0 like my 93', wish I could swap the two engines but not up for that, yet.

Only swap I'd recommend is to a v8 Exploder. Easy enough. Great joy and little real sweat.

Well that too. Had I known the gas milage was about the same (5.0L vs 4.0LSOHC), THAT's what we should have got. I am imagining the possibilities of a 302 in an exp, like making it a stroker, cheap! Cheap everything. You have got to love the Widsor. If you got the 302W could even go 351W. What can you really do with a modular and then the cost and reliability.....

give 'em time lcgarage. they'll give you something for that modular. But in the meantime the 5.0 is the best way to keep it ford and give it power.

I agree, for now I will be happy with a tensioner swap. Just looking back at the engine options we had at the time, should have stayed with the old. Then add to that reading up on Windsors (planned to stroke 351W 96' F250). It was like, WOW imagine what you could do (tow) with a 5.0L Explorer.
