Dana 60 - Sterling 10.25 swap

First of all I would have searched this topic before posting.... but I couldn't figure out where to do it.

I'm researching swaping out the Dana 60 rear of my '79 F-350 4x4 SC/LB with a Sterling 10.25 out of a late model F-350. Does anyony have experience? Are there many modifications required to the 10.25?
Thanks for your time.

Dana 60 - Sterling 10.25 swap

I am doing the same thing and as far as I can tell its A bolt in swap. Im already running the late model springs etc and just aquired a rear. I cant do the swap for 2 more weeks though so I cant tell you for sure. But a freind of a freind has done it several times. THE 10.25 is much stronger thats what im after.

Dana 60 - Sterling 10.25 swap

I just got through swapping out my rear 60 for an 85 f-350's sterling. The spring perches bolted right up, the shock mount work fine, only thing ou have to do is take your dana 60 brakeline t-fitting and put it on the sterling so you can bolt up your brakehose. Everything worked out great, just beware cause that sterling is a heavy mother. It must weigh 100 lbs more than the little 60. Good luck with the swap

A Dana 70 out of a early '80's van is the same width as the 4x4 front axle. You will have to move the perches. The pickup axles, for whatever reason, are noticably narrower. I always thought that looked goofy especially with wider tires.
