who makes the best intake kit?

Im looking for a complete kit with better intake hoses (no ripples) and im wondering who makes the best kit out there. Im also concered about filteration because i use my diesel to tow my ranger out to the desert (very dusty) so im leaning away from the K&N. I've heard K&N filters allow more particulates through than other filters.

jmo.. the best "kit" you can get for the money... that filters the best is the ford AIS system... just over $215... i went with the wix 46637 filter from fleetfilter.com.... just over $18 plus shipping... great filtering... AWESOME airflow... plus you can really hear your turbo..! lots of debate in here on these two systems... read it all then make up your own mind... it's your money and your truck..!

I've been looking at the AEM Brute Force. I'm not sure how it is but it sure does look good. I've known AEM because they make some of the best intakes for gassers. Anyone have the AEM Brute Force?? There's some pictures on this site if you'd like to take a look at it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WD1V

i looked on fleetfilter, and i saw that they had one of them. so i was planning on buying it. is it just a stock replacement filter that sits in the original location, or does it add to or modify the intake box? can someone give me a picture of it? thanks alot!

You can put your own together, but it just doesnt look as good, the kwik filter is a cheaper method, and works for what it is designed to, but trey you know me, my stuff has to look good too... here is a pic of a tymar

the tymar is an intake tube, powerdercoated or not, new filter, silicone boot, constant torque clamps and the strap at the end of the filter to keep it off the fenderwell, and out of the insulation

so, the fleet filter (wix 46637) fits right in the stock location (is it a rectangular stock-replacement filter) but flows alot more air? i really needed a new filter desperately because mine is coated in black "dirt". so i figured this would be a nice way to improve airflow. or is this like the tymar filter where i will need to get a pipe to adapt to the turbo intake? AHH!

99bajakid,

If you want max flow and protection for the engine get the AFE Stage II Pro Guard 7 System. The PG7 filter filters to within 1/2 of 1% of the stock systems and flows tons more, it has a new filter to turbo tube that is mandrel degined and has a 6 inch inlet at the filter end to fit the huge PG7 filter. It's not cheap but if you want flow and to keep the dirt out of the engine it's the choice. Call us if you have any questions etc we'll be glad to help you.

Totally agree, If I had the money thats the one I would go with and like Mark said the PG7 is a great filter. But since I need other things my cheap home made 6637 works pretty good. Hmmmmm, this may be a good suggestion at Christmas time.
