Tornado gas mileage increase?.

The 05 Mustang has a Torando looking thing intalled in the intake tract. It is supposed to be a hydrocarbon trap, catching any vapors that want to escape while the car is off. Ford stop putting them in the Mustangs in April and just about everyone on the forum has removed theirs if it had one. I would say it is snake oil. Use the money to buy a reuseable filter, K&N or some other brand. May or may not do as advertised with respect to HP and MPG, but at least you will save money in the long run.

I say snake oil. I bought one (sucker) and installed it in an Explorer with the 4.0 SOHC. I can't believe I spent $$ on that thing and I know for sure it didn't help at all...in fact, I think it actually decreased my mileage and power. I left it in a few months and then took it out. I'd give it away if I could...
When they advertise, they most likely test the products in about 100 vehicles. As long as it gains in just one...they can legally say it can increase power/mileage. I think they just leave out the fact that it won't make a difference in most vehicles.
Anyway, that's my thoughts. Even if it would make a difference in these trucks...it would be so minimal that the money would probably be better spent elsewhere.
Good luck!

Consider this
I don't know if the Tornado works or not but the test they show on TV with the two 2 liter bottles of water with about 1 liter of water between them is misleading. Their demonstration applies to transferring water and air in an airtight environment. It works because when you spin the water to create a vortex the water and air can switch places faster rather than if you turn a bottle of water or coke upside down and the flow stops form time to time to allow a large bubble of air to enter the bottle. Your air intake is not a vacuum. Would the water in your outdoor hose flow faster if it were rotating inside the hose or would it make a difference? Judge for your self.
