Alright thanks kw5413, then I guess I'll give it a shot and see what happens. It can't hurt anyting to discinnect it.........right?
I am surprised that your programmer did not provide you with some turbo lag relief. Keep in mind that it is a turbo and while you can shorten the lag window I am not sure that you can eliminate it.
BTW: When you disable the EGR Valve on an '05 your CEL may display. Much like the California emissions flashed trucks did on the '03 / '04 MY.
On a side note...when I hit the spell check button it wanted to change your handle to mudslinger. Not a future omen I hope....
The Predator did take care of some and actually I'm fine with it but if I can make a simple change to decrease it even more, I'll try it. Hey with the way it's been raining in Houston "mudslinger" just might apply here shortly!
Everybody's been ignoring the obvious answer - Just stay in the throttle. Wish that were true, but we all have to stop sometime.
I do have the SCMT and am running it in two safe mode. The turbo lag is better than stock but still there.
When I'm pulling my trailer what I will do sometimes at a light is to lightly add some throttle while holding the brake. Not much, just enough to build a half pound of boost or so while the other light is cycling through the yellow.
The truck pulls away from the light much better then.
I run the SCMT on my 04 and find the tow safe mode is best for removing lag and feels best with more response with less pedal. The econo and hi performance mode seem less responsive with more lag, and doesn't seem to make much difference until you really get into the throttle. Tow safe "feels" stronger for everyday driving.
Perhaps Vic or others can confirm that there seems to more earlier/less later in tow safe than the other tunes. Feels that way to me anyway- and I like it.
There is definitely a little more bottom end stump pulling "snap" in the throttle with the tow safe tune, but the Perf tune makes more power and for considerably longer (4200+ RPM) when you get on it and let it spool up. The Econ falls in the middle.
Thanks Vic, I knew that it felt a little better off the bottom in tow safe. At first I wouldn't let myself believe that the tow felt stronger and tried going to the other tunes many times to prove it to myself that the tow mode felt best -for me- in everyday driving.
PS- the other modes are definitely stronger further up the rpm range,I just don't get there as much. Thanks again Vic.
