1981 F-100 17 digit VIN decoder?

I need a 17 digit VIN decoder for my 1981 Ford F-100 truck. My insurance company says my truck does not match my VIN number. I want to check this myself and see if they are right. Thanks

I can decode your vin for you using my 1981 light truck service spec manual if you want. You can either post your vin, or PM me and I'll get it done for you if you want. if you include all the codes off of the saftey certification level I can decode those too. Paint color, seat, body interior color, axle codes, trans codes etc...

Ford.com has a 17 digit vin decoder, but it only works for 1982 and up. A bit silly to exclude the 1981, (the first year of the 17 digit vin), and I did complain.

My VIN Number For 1981 Ford F-100

Hi, My VIN is 1FTDF10FXBNB02342. I found the Ford.com site earlier but like you say it starts with 1982 which is really crazy since the 17 digit VIN was started in 1981. Thanks for your help.

Sorry about the character size

I am sorry about the character size being so large. I just cut and pasted the VIN number from Microsoft Word and didn't check the font and character size before I submitted the post. I guess that's what the preview option is for. Thanks again.

Howdy, well here is what the vin decodes out to.

1FT = Ford Truck USA. Complete Vehicle

D = GVWR and Hydraulic Brake system class. 5,001 to 6,000 pounds.

F10 = F-Series F-100 4x2 Regular Cab.

F = 5.0 L - 302 cid V8 - Gas - Manufacture FORD.

X = Check Digit

B = Year Model - 1981

N = Plant of manufacture - Norfork

B02342 = Production Sequence Number. The 102,342 made in the 1981 model year.

Hope this helps you out.

Smile That's what I needed.

The decoded VIN describes my truck exactly. Now that I know the insurance company is definitely wrong I can put up a good arguement. Thanks for all your help.
