I got one of those monster truck kits when I was a kid, it has a lot of parts to make it stock, but just enough so its not. it actually came with an extra set of regular size wheels etc, but it didn't have all the regular suspension parts. Maybe a guy could take parts from other models to make it work, I havn't looked at mine for 10 years or better.

evilbay is the only place to get them, but unfortunatley they go for 60-100+ each. in sept, the model king is releasing the 79 4x4s. i have an original model, that i am going to cast parts out of resin from. this will allow people to have the 76-77 grille. im still trying to get the 73-75 grille.

The Model King truck is actually correct for the 73 to 77 body style. AMT didn't update the molds to reflect styling changes, the just made new grilles. Look closely at the pics, there is no F O R D lettering on the hood which is correct for the earlier models because this lettering was already in the grille and would be redundant on the hood. Also the filler caps are exposed, not covered by fuel door as on 78-79 trucks. If this model is the same as all the other releases it will have an FE engine with a C6 auto instead of the correct 460 or Modified mill. It is a nice kit though and its good to see it again. Sorry, I'm a model nerd and wanted to get that out there.

im not sure how much they will cost, but i need more practice first before i'll sell them. they will fit just like the original, when i get the hang of it. im geussing that they will be about $8-10.00 each, depending on my costs. i'll probable give discounts if peple buy more than one. i'll let you guys know when they are available.

I hope that the model company does listen to Dennis. I would buy the products. I have two of the Walmart Sam Walton trucks

Actually, 1977 was the first year for the gas filler door.

An FE engine would be correct for 1973-1976, 351M/400 would be correct for 1977-1979, and a 460 would ONLY be correct in a 2WD.

Yes, I am one also, and it will be nice to see this. Hopefully, It'll be in my area when they release it.

And to think I was going to post about someone resurrecting an old thread . Good info.

I've never owned a real truck of this vintage but I hope to soon so I don't know them as well as the newer model I own but I do know this kit fairly well. Thanks for the extra info.

Evan if the Model King kit has accuracy flaws, it will be a welcome addition to the vintage model kits that are pouring out from AMT!!!
