Manual Transmission 2004-2005 F350 6.0PSD

I have a 2005 F350 PSD and my brother in law had a 2004 F350 PSD, both have 6 speed manuals and 410 rear ends. We tow 32 ft livestock trailers, that loaded weigh between 20k and 28k. The problem is we have to ride the clutch at times to start off. Had an 01 F350 7.3L PSD 6 speed manual with 410 rear end and it pulled with no problem. The 05 Dodges with Cummins and 6 speed manual and 373 rear end pull a lot better. I don't think the problem is in the motor or the rear end gear, since most I have talked to like their automatic transmission in the 2005 F350, I think Ford must have changed the transmission when they went from a 7.3 to a 6.0. Was wanting to know if anyone knew of anything that could be done to the gearing in the 6 speed manual transmission of a 2005 F350 PSD, because I like the rest of the truck a lot better than the Dodge, just want it to pull better, espeacially in the lower gears.

Are you starting off in L (granny gear) or 1? I would think you wouldn't have to do that if you start in granny gear.

I've never towed that much weight, but I would think that in low, you should be able to start out just fine without slipping the clutch. The shift from low to 1 takes a bit to get used to, but is managable. I know what you mean about the Cummins with a bit more low end, but that's the nature of the beast.. -An Inline 6. As you've mentoined, yes, all around the Ford is a much better truck interior wise than the Dodge. Overall, it's just a better truck. You ask if there's a difference with the 6spd from the 7.3 or the later 6.0's. Not that I'm aware of. I did a small amount of research when I was looking for a new truck. I settled on the 6.0 and ZF. And in my inquiries never found anything different with the ZF's except clutch, input, and output bearings. I was never told about any gear ratio differences.

I had a Ford gasser w/the straight 6 & manual, the granny gear felt like it would pull a house off it's foundation would think it would have sufficient torque w/v8!

Did you say you were pulling trailers that weigh 28,000 lbs (with a F-350?)

My TT weighs as much as 12,500 depending on what load we have in it and I can start out in L without even touching the go-pedal.
