Exterior: 8. good looking truck, but I liked the grille on my 98 better.
Interior: 6. could be roomier, that dash is a foot thick. Move it all forward and make the xcab part deeper. Other than that it's nice.
Engine: 4. disappointing in just about every way. Not enough power, so-so mileage.
Transmission: 2. It shifts whenever it feels like it.
56,000 miles and I keep having to replace sensors everywhere. I really wish I had kept my 98 2.5 5-speed, but I just had to have a supercab and a v6

Truck gets a 9. I have owned it 10.5 yrs and it owes me absolutely nothing.
3.0 in stock form gets a 5. 3.0 in modified form gets a 9. 23mpg in town with a 5spd! I am still amazed at the torque this thing has between 1500 & 2000 rpm. I pulled a 5k pound trailer yesterday and pulled it at 50mph in od (1500rpm) up and over the interstate (bridge overpass) and only lost 3mph!

Have a fleet of Rangers - mostly 4-cylinder automatic transmission driven by various folk. They just hang in there with little difficulty. Over the years we have learned the "quirks" and the "tricks" to keep them running well. Some have over 200k. The latest batch have the 3.0 6-cylinder, automatic transmission and air conditioning.
They use more fuel and IMHO do not perform just a whole lot better than the 4 cylinder. Of course we do not tow anything and they usually only have one driver and reasonably light weight materials that are being carried.
Recently we sent six of our older trucks to the Delaware operation. Yes they have 200k on the clock however the bodies were in good shape and they were running well.

I love my 3.0 Ranger! I've only had it about 4 weeks now, but I had a 94 for a couple of years. The Edge's Gas mileage is improving now, so I'm stil out on that, but I just took it to the mountains last week and it perfomed great! I'd say 10! (I have a lot more payments to make so I'd better still think it's a 10!)

Ehh I'll give my 01 Edge 3.0 a 7, but that's because I got horrible gas mileage since I bought it used 1 year ago, but been doing some maintenance on it lately and it's improving. Changed the PCV last week, and it's like a new truck. My first ever vehicle I bought on my own was a 94 4 banger I got when I graduated HS. I put 225k on it with no probs. It was a definite 10.

Truck is a 1998 4x4 SC 3.0 5spd, with 85k miles on it.
I give it a 4.
Cons: Engine is weak, thirsty pile of trash, seats and visibility are horrendous for us tall folk (I'm 6'4"), interior is a torture chamber, quality is pretty shabby, 4wd system will (not might) fail, transmission sometimes won't engage 1st gear smoothly, horrible handling.
Pros: Looks good in the color I have (this red/orange mix, don't see too many of them around), pretty reliable, decent off-road and in inclement weather, heat and A/C is very very good, good stock stereo, cargo net, cup/cassette holder and that rollaway vinyl cover are nice addons in the rear cab area
This is my first, and last, domestic vehicle
FLAME ON!

I have a 2000 Ford Ranger off road package 3.0 V6 I think it is a pretty good runnin engine it is not a V8 by any means but I have not had any problems with it at all I pull a 12 ft trailler with a 500 or 600 lbs 4 wheeler on the trailler and have no problems at all. so i would give it a 10
I mean what are u wantin a little 3.0 to do ??? I guess I just dont get what u think this little motor should do for u all????

I have to give my 03 edge a 9, it gets me were I want to go, I dont really go anywhere that requires 4WD, but the added ground clearance is a plus, the engine does lack in power but I dont tow much but what I have pulled it does fine, not happy with the stock Radial Long Trails, not very good wet traction and I love the interior, I'm 6'2" and find it comfortable and the seats are way better than my last truck, a 96 LX with the vinyl bench seat, very cold in the winter time, and the tremor stereo is great
