need diesel c6 info

I pulled my tranny today to rebuild over the weekend. Is it true that the torque conv. on the diesel c6 does'nt have to be replaced during a rebuild? I've been told that you just flush'em out. If someone could enlighten me on this before I do something stupid, I would greatly appreciate it

On any trans, if you had metal flowing through your fluid, then you would not reuse the torque converter. How many miles on this torque converter?

the trans was rebuilt about a year ago so it only has about eight to ten thousand on it. I got the truck for $500 from my cousin because it was slipping in second gear. When I checked it out I found that the firewall insulation had come loose and was pushing down on the kickdown rod all the time. So I'm assuming that had something to do with it slipping. I decided to go ahead and replace the clutches and put in a shift kit while I'm there.

If it was slipping in second gear, it could be as simple as just a second gear band adjustment. The adjustment can be done with the tranny still in the truck and is quick and easy. I would adjust that first and then see if that works before pulling the trans.

Hmm, reread your first post, I guess the trans is already pulled. Oh well.
