I don't believe that 5w20 has ever been recommended for the 4.0 SOHC, so 5w30 is the oil to use. Are you still under warranty? If so, I'd have it checked for the timing chain problem before the warranty expires.

If I remove the starter relay, crank the engine by jumping the contacts without having the ignition on for a few seconds, letting oil press. build up, and then reinstall the relay and start the engine normally. There is no noise. I think the oil is draining back out of the heads after the engine has been shut down over a certain period of time. The only fix I can think of is to install a preoiler to build oil pressure before the engine is cranked.
