accelerator linkage for 66 F250
This has been missing on my truck since I got it, having been replaced successfully with bailing wire by the previous owner. :-) Even the pedal is missing; just the lever where the pedal was is still there, and the bailing wire is attached to the top end of the lever, goes out a hole in the firewall, scrapes across the top of the valve cover and is twisted onto the attachment point on the throttle on the carburetor. It works fine but I'd like to get a real accelerator linkage installed and don't really know what it looks like. Anybody here know of some good pictures, or be willing to take a picture?
The engine is a 302 (I'm sure it's been replaced because this was a high-mileage work truck that saw a number of different occupations over the years) and I imagine it's a normal carburetor for that engine, nothing special, 2 barrel if I remember correctly. I'm trying to get into a condition that will be good enough for camping trips; so far I only ever use it around town for trips to Home Depot and stuff like that.

The bad news is a 302 isn't a stock option for a 66, so anything you put in will need to be customized to fit a small block.
Basicly there are 2 easy ways you can go. (1) buy a piece of round bar from HomeDepo and bend it to fit from the carb through the firewall, or (2) buy an aftermarket throttle cable from Pepboys or Autozone and make it fit. A 302 being common enough, they sell cables and chome brackets for them on the shelves.
The only other piece of information you're likely to need is what Carb you have. They used a number of diffrent carbs over the 3 or 4 decades they used 302s, but none went in the slick series of trucks, so it could be anything.
The bad news is a 302 isn't a stock option for a 66, so anything you put in will need to be customized to fit a small block.

The stock accellerator cable should work on your 302. But you will have to have the bracket on the intake and probably the mount for the firewall. If you don't have those, it would be cheaper and easier to use aftermarket cable or bend a rod to fit. Be careful with the rod so it does not get pinched during use. This can cause the throttle to stick wide open and then you are just along for the ride.

Even the 289? Its essentially the same block as a 302
did they all come with I6 motors?

I'm guessing that a '66 F250 is the same as my '65 F250, if so, then....
I'd get the stock cable setup back in there. There will be minimal jockying around to get it to bolt to the manifold, it may just bolt right up. When I swapped to a factory 4-bbl manifold it required about 1/2" worth of spacers under the mount to make it work. Much better than cobbling something together. Most Ford manifolds I have seen have provisions to mount that bracket.
As for the pedal, it is really 2-piece. There's the part you have left and there's the pedal that bolts to the floor and rides against what you have left.
I'm sure with minimal searching you can find these 2 pieces easily.
