I have been a frequent browser for some time and this is my first post. I have owned my current 2002 F-250 with the v-10 for almost 2 years. It has been trouble free other than normal maintence. When I bought it I was looking for a diesel but got such a good deal on the V-10, I decided I would try it. I now have 135,000 miles on it and it has surpassed my expectations.
I just got back from a trip to the Ozarks (Branson, MO) and can not wipe the smile from my face. Although the hills are not as bad as some, they are extremely steep and the biggest test I have put my truck through pulling the 31ft 5th wheel we bought last year. The truck did fantastic!! I was able to pull these hills as well, and in most cases better, than any other truck I saw pulling a 5th wheel.
The first time I pulled with the V-10, I was a little un-nerved because I was used to a diesel. I did not understand that this truck likes RPM's, and when let loose it will pull hard. I credit this site with helping me understand my truck better (it is kind of like marrital counceling for v-10 owners).
My wife is tired of hearing about the truck so I needed to tell someone.
first off. welcome to FTE the best ford truck site on the web.please take some time and read the guides. then enjoy FTE.
best of luck with your v10 towing machine. they do surprise a lot of people with what they can do and haul. if you ever see a new one in a dealers lot drive it the 05/6 is even better with it's 3 valve 362 hp beast.
i towed 6k around all weekend and it shocked every one inside "3 people plus me" the box was 30 feet and inside a top fuel dragster and 2 spare bullits.plus parts and tools.
