The "always hot" connector on the 7-pin

Just an FYI...

My "always hot" pin (the one labelled + ) didn't work on my 7-pin connector. Kinda frustrating! Couldn't figure it out. Seems the relay wasn't installed at the factory!

Food for thought for those with a tow package.

I just bought an enclosed 2 horse trailer and blamed the guy for the interior lights not working. Wasn't until I put a MM on the pin that I realized it was my truck. I did apologize.

Where did you mount your brake controller? I just bought a 05 with the hd payload pkg and I'm trying to figure the best place to mount it.

Those kind of incidents can be embarrassing. Good Luck!

I didn't. I use it in both my trucks.

It sits in the little cubby hole under the cupholders on my F150 and in the console on my Expy.

? I thought that the relay that is in the baggy with the wiring harness for the brake controller in the glove box is what activated the "always hot pin"? Not sure on this as my pop up camper connects to the 4 pin connector and doesn't have brakes.

I know on my old van (1992) with the 7 pin, the always hot was only hot with the key on.

Thanks, I'll check that out. Didn't mean to hijack the thread but thanks for the input.
