AIR BAG KILL SWITCH

First, thanks to all you knowledgeable folks who take the time to help the innocent. Here's what I want to know, FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES ONLY, on Ford trucks from '95 on, how could you wire up a switch that would deactivate the Driver's side air bag. Why? I'm out 4 wheelin on a cliff side road, a big bump, BANG the bag knocks me in the head and off the road and over the cliff I go.

AIR BAG KILL SWITCH

First of all, I think it is illegal to modify or
temper with air bags..,but it is very simple to
modify. Underneath the steering column there are
two wires that lead up to your steering wheel, they are covered by a yellow shield. Cut the black
wire it most likely is the ground, crimp or solder
a piece of wire to one of the ends you just cut,
run it to one side of a toggle switch. The switch must be a single pole single throw switch and most toggle switches work find. Connect another wire to
the other connection on the switch and run it to the other cut wire and solder of crimp it together. Now mount your toggle switch somewhere
convenient on your dash..,what you have just done
is place a SPST switch in series with the ground
source to the air bag. By turning off switch there is no longer a path for current to flow if air bag was activated thus you have defeated the air bag. When you turn to on position it is now ready for use again.
Good Luck
