what are these new expeditions getting for fuel mileage with a 5.4 i am thinking about trading my excursion v-10 ??

 

My mileage is still increasing a bit, but at 3500 miles...I get about 13-13.5 around tow with some towing a 3000lb boat...I have only made one trip, and it included a bit of around town driving, but saw 15mpg overall on the trip...

Haven't towed anything yet, but my 05 is getting 16 overall (mostly around town driving). I could never get over 15.4 with my 01 Expy. So far, pleasantly suprised with my mileage

the 3v heads allow the new engines to make more hp and get better mpg's.

 

I havent did any calculations or anything but my gas mileage is worse on my 05 than my 03. I get about 50-60 mls/gln less just by going off the tripometer.

 

Yeah, my 05 does not get near the mileage that my wifes 00 does.

 

My 04 5.4 2V gets 15.6 mix city/hwy. On a trip to Florida, I was getting 17.2 at 80-85 mpg the whole way.

My 03 got 13 MPG on its best days, the 05 has hit 17 once but gets 15 cosistantly. Much better than the 03. I have to have Ford check the high idle at startup, 2K, before settling down.

 

Must be this horrible stop and go traffic here in DC thats killing me.

 

The most I get on my 04 is 11.8 as per the trip computer. This is 75% city and 25% Highway.

Is this normal??

 

Last check of the computer showed 16mpg- Also, the AC has been kicking on. Wife has been driving it due to problems with the Nissan.

 

My '04 gets about 13-14mpg with 75% city 25% highway. Haven't found any way to improve it.

 

My '03 5.4 gets about 18-19mpg on the highway. That is strictly highway mileage; I reset the comp once the cruise was set. With a mix of city and highway mileage I get around 15-16mpg.

 

MY 05 5.4L got over 19mpg highway and 16mpg city. I drove from FL to PA, and went 512 miles per tank of gas! Much better than my 04.

 

I picked up a used 05 Expy 2 weeks ago with 23K on the clock. I drove it home from Dallas to Norman OK and got 19 mpg. I haven't checked it since but I'm curious to find out. I've had the tires balanced and rotated and just ran a bottle of Lucas cleaner/lubricant through the fuel system. It'll be interesting to see if there's any change.
